holistic health _ Take a Walk for More Energy

holistic health, natural healing, weight loss programs, natural weight loss Every day, millions of Americans leave work wishing they had enough energy to work out. They head home from their workplace and go straight to the couch to relax. Some people have many responsibilities outside of work as well such as taking care of the children or housework. However, most people don’t know that simply exercising 30 minutes a day is one of the best ways to increase holistic health. People who get regular exercise are healthier, in better health, and have more energy during the day!

The health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle are numerous. Exercise is a great way to enhance natural healing as well as increase energy and metabolism, decrease stress and help enhance the body’s ability to get a good night’s sleep. Exercising every day seems like a difficult goal but it can actually make it easier to get through the work week with energy to spare. In addition to a healthy body, exercising can help to increase self esteem and mental acuity. In addition, a walk every day is one of the best weight loss programs out there!

Another reason why it is a good idea to exercise is because physical activity increases your oxygen level. Every part of the body needs oxygen to stay alive. Doesn’t it make sense that increasing oxygen intake would increase health and bodily functioning as well? Only 21 percent of the air we breathe is oxygen. For this reason, it is important to get the lungs in shape in order to get all the oxygen the body needs. The best way to condition the lungs is through aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise uses oxygen to get work done. Anything that gets the heart pumping can help the body to take in oxygen more effectively! Some people exercise for health reasons, but many do because they want to lose weight. Regular aerobic exercise is one of the best ways to do this! Not only will the body burn fat while working out, but it will also increase the number of calories the body burns every day!

Walking is one of the best ways to lose weight. It is easy and very effective! Humans used to walk a lot just going about their daily lives. However, today most Americans have a very sedentary lifestyle. They get in their cars, drive to work or school, and sit there for hours. People have gotten so used to this lifestyle, that it is difficult for them to plan exercise. A morning or nightly stroll can do wonders for cardiovascular health and refine the musculoskeletal system. In addition, walking can lead to better breathing, a stronger heart, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, stronger immunity and less depression. It is important to take 10,000 steps a day to stay physically and mentally healthy! Most people take between 2,000 and 4,000 steps a day. Walking is one of the easies activities a person can do! So get out and get some exercise for more energy and natural weight loss!

Hammertoe: A Common Problem

hammer toe surgery
One of the most common foot problems is hammertoe. Some people have a mild hammer toe but others have such a severe problem that they need to be treated with surgery. The condition is usually noticed when a corn develops on the top of the toe and becomes painful. Usually, the deformity exists in one toe. The base of the toe points upward and the end of the toe points down. The corn would form at the base of the toe where it points upward. A corn will usually form because the person is wearing tight shoes with not enough room for the toes. While some people are more structurally prone to develop hammer toes than others, tight footwear is a very prevalent cause of the condition. Wearing tight shoes provide the pressure that causes the symptoms. If no one ever wore shoes, than hammertoe would not develop painful corns and would not need surgery unless the hammer toe is extremely deformed. Oftentimes the condition can be treated by removing the corn and buying larger shoes, but sometimes the problem is so severe that surgery is required. It is possible that hammer toe surgery will be required.

Per a leading Long Beach Foot Doctor, in the early stages where the toe is still flexible, the deformity can be corrected by relaxing the tendons. This is done through a small incision, which often doesn’t require stitches. If the hammertoe is still present, an incision is made on the toe and a small portion of the bone is removed. Some podiatrists minimize visible scarring by placing the incision between the toes. This eliminates highly visible scars left by the traditional incision placement on top of the toes. This allows the toe to relax and assume a straighter position. Following this procedure, the patient can return to comfortable shoes and resume normal activity. As with any surgery there will be a period of recovery. During this procedure, pressure cannot be placed on the foot. There is likely to be swelling and pain. They can reduce post-surgical discomfort and make pain manageable as the toes and joints heal. The recovery time for this surgery is usually four to six weeks. During this time the patient will need to wear a cast and probably use crutches.

It is very important for parents to make sure they are buying well fitting shoes for their children. If the child’s foot grows rapidly, then it is easy for them to develop a hammer toe by wearing ill-fitting shoes. High profile counties like San Diego and Orange County Foot Surgery patients have many options including access to top podiatrists. Often doing research online will enable them to find the best foot doctor for them! Reading patient reviews can go a long way towards finding a quality foot doctor.
